Drees & Sommer UK has been appointed by New Care and Villafont Concierge, McGoff Group’s retirement living brand, to oversee development works at its £21 million retirement village in Kent.
The care home will be the first in the South for the award-winning New Care, and will provide outstanding residential, dementia and 24-hour nursing care in a luxurious environment.
After acquiring the site in January 2024, the McGoff Group is working with Drees & Sommer UK to provide employer’s agent and cost management services, as well as its building surveying team being appointed to carry out quality checking prior to handover. This is not the first time the pair have worked together, having delivered Cost Management and Employer’s Agent services on over 10 projects across the UK.
The four-acre site located off Canterbury Road in Herne Bay, which was formerly a derelict site, is set to undergo major transformational works which will see the development of a 67-bed care facility and 49 new bungalows.
Work started on site in January 2024, with the McGoff Group also planning a second phase of the development, which will include 72 apartments, in the near future.
Part of the existing structure will be retained through restoration of the facade, breathing new life into this historic building. It will be combined with the new build, creating a sympathetically designed development.
