Dewsbury based Magma Group received a visit from Her Majesty the Queen’s Royal Representative the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire on Thursday the 11th August to be presented with the official Queens Award for Enterprise: Innovation trophy on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen.

The Lord Lieutenant, Ed Anderson was greeted by key members of the Magma Team, including Managing Director Mark Stuckey, where he presented Magma with their official Queens Award for Enterprise trophy and scroll on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen.

In his speech, Ed highlighted the importance of the award, saying not only was it for the organisation as a whole but also for everyone associated to the organisation including employees, customers, suppliers. He expressed how proud he was of each business in West Yorkshire this year as 13 West Yorkshire business were selected for The Queens Award for Enterprise in April, the highest number of Awards in a county outside of London.

Ed then went on to read from Magma’s Official Queens Award for Enterprise: Innovation scroll, signed by Her Majesty the Queen herself and Boris Johnson.

Following on from the presentation, he was joined by MP Mark Eastwood and Senior Caseworker Sarah Ward as they were all offered a tour around Magma’s expanding facilities.

Mark Stuckey, Managing Director, commented; “We were honoured to welcome The Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire to Magma Group on Thursday to present us with our official glassware trophy and signed scroll.

‘Winning the Queens Award for Enterprise for Innovation is a very important time for the business and we are happy to welcome our special guest and give him an insight into our business and offer him a tour of our research and development laboratory and expanding manufacturing site.’

‘We are committed to growth and believe that having a strong focus on innovation is the best enabler for this.’

‘Research and development and the deployment of an innovation pipeline continue to be a central focus for our future growth plans.”

Magma Group was one of just 23 Yorkshire firms to be honoured with the Queens Award for Enterprise in April. Recognised for their Innovation and developments of the SMR Catalyst.

Noticing a lack of innovation in the SMR catalyst market over the last 20 years and the need for more hydrogen in the world, a gap in the market was identified for a new catalyst that could improve hydrogen production and lower energy costs.
