Wiltshire’s leading veterinary hospital has invested in new laser equipment that will perform cutting-edge treatments and improve patient recovery time.
Eastcott Veterinary Referrals has added a Delta Laser to its portfolio of state-of-the-art equipment to ensure its surgeons remain at the forefront of new surgical procedures.
The Swindon-based veterinary centre will use the new laser to perform precision surgery in otherwise inaccessible places, such as within dogs’ bladders and nasal cavities, and introduce new treatments.
Key treatments will include correcting ectopic ureters – a condition that makes puppies incontinent due to ‘faulty plumbing’ – and removing obstructive tissue from within the nasal cavities of brachycephalic dogs, such as Pugs and French Bulldogs.
The investment is particularly good news for patients in and around Wiltshire, as pet owners will no longer have to travel as far as previously required to access these types of treatment.

“The Delta Laser will provide us with new treatment options and allow us to conduct surgery in a minimally invasive way.
“Patients will benefit from smaller incision wounds and, as a result, they will heal faster and, therefore, require a shorter hospitalisation stay.
“Many of these surgeries will now be done by guiding the laser fibre to where it is needed via a scope or camera system, so we can accomplish the aims of surgery without having to make any external wound or traditional surgical approach.
“Reducing treatment and hospitalisation timeframes overall will enable us to treat more patients, but we will also introduce new procedures.
“For example, laser-assisted turbinectomies is a new treatment we will now be offering patients at Eastcott and we hope to be able to develop new techniques as we gain more experience with the new technology.”
