How Sustainability & Mental Health Are Changing Fashion for Young Men

New to the fashion world, the clothing brand for young men Seams& is making waves in the industry with sustainable clothing, self empowerment messages, and charity partnerships.

Focused on helping adolescents move away from fast fashion and the financial and psychological burden of ‘fitting in’, Seams& is growing fast and is set to be even busier than ever following the successful launch of its capsule collection, consisting of everyday essentials from performance tees to joggers, sweatshirts and bottoms.

Sales have grown month on month since last August and remarkably, in an industry where average returns rate are 34% (Source: Statista), Seams& is experiencing virtually no returns, proving that its carefully-designed, premium products are a good fit in terms of quality and sizing.

Launched in 2022, the brand’s mission is to help young men feel confident in their clothes so they can be their most authentic selves, carrying the message that when you look good, you feel good and you do good.

The brand was launched during the pandemic when Founder, Suhale Vorajee, experienced first-hand the mental health struggles that many young people face, especially when it came to body image, self-esteem, and self-worth.

One in seven men aged between 16 and 24 experience depression or anxiety each year (Source: Beyond Blue). Alongside his son, Suhale was determined to create a clothing brand aimed specifically at young men which helps to tackle these issues as well as create a more timeless, sustainable approach to fashion. Seams& also donates 5% of all profits to Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health.

Suhale explained: “Fashion is a forever-evolving industry and young people are no longer content dressing in the latest ‘trends’ and consuming fast fashion. They’re actively engaging and connecting with brands that align with their own values and where they feel represented.

“We are living in a time where individuality is celebrated and we want to feel proud of who we are. However, sometimes it can be difficult, especially for young people who struggle, or don’t have the outlets, to express themselves and feel like they’re making a difference with the choices they make, too.

“This is why Seams& exists. It is more than a fashion brand. We want young men to feel confident in their own skin and feel included. We are a national brand that only collaborates with UK designers who are committed to sustainability – ensuring that fashion can and should be timeless.”

The clothing brand exclusively collaborates with UK designers and dropped their debut collection in April last year titled Seams&YourCity. The assembly was entirely inspired by various cities across the nation including London, Liverpool, Manchester, Reading, Bristol, Leeds and Cardiff.
