‘Happy’ and ‘welcoming’ Ascot nursery impresses Ofsted inspector

Partou Natures Day Nursery and Pre-school near Ascot has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted.

In the final report, the inspector observes that children are “happy and settled at this welcoming setting.” Team members are described as “good role models” with “high expectations for all children’s development and behaviour.”

Located in Sunninghill, just two miles outside Ascot, Partou Natures provides a unique forest school experience where children are encouraged to learn about nature and the world around them.

The nursery is sited in two acres of natural grounds including a large garden with sandpits, mud kitchens, sensory spaces and more for the children to explore.

The outdoor space is complemented by age-specific indoor playrooms, enabling children to receive the care and attention they need throughout their early years development.

The inspector notes that the children “are greeted by friendly staff and settle quickly into activities of their choosing.”

The report continues: “Staff gather information from parents when children first start and use this to plan around children’s interests and stage of development. This means staff know the children well and have secure bonds with them. As a result, children feel safe and secure.”

Management at Partou Natures are said to possess “good oversight of the setting” with team members conducting “regular observations and assessments of children” which helps them to be clear about what children know and what they need to learn next.

The inspector writes: “This also supports staff to identify when there are gaps in children’s learning. Plans are then put in place to support children’s development. This means children make good progress from their starting points.”

Team members are praised for supporting the children’s mathematical development and independence.

The report explains: “Staff encourage children to complete tasks for themselves, such as managing their self-care needs and putting their shoes on. Younger children confidently feed themselves with support from staff. This helps them develop skills for their next stage in learning.”

After speaking to families, the inspector states: “Parents report that their children are happy and progress well” with team members using information gathered from families to follow babies’ home routines.

And safeguarding arrangements at the setting at the setting are deemed to be “effective,” rooted in “an open and positive culture” that “puts children’s interests first.”
