What can theatre possibly teach the corporate world? At The Courtyard Playhouse Corporate Academy, the answer is: quite a lot.
Improvisation — the art of creating in the moment — isn’t just for actors. It’s a discipline that demands active listening, adaptability, and collaboration. These are precisely the qualities businesses need as teams return from the summer break and face the unpredictability of the workplace.
“Improvisers succeed when they stop blocking ideas and start building on them,” explains Lead Facilitator and L&D Specialist Salman Qureshi. “In business, the same principle applies. The best teams say ‘Yes, And…’ to each other — they listen, contribute, and move forward together.”
Theatre meets training
Over the past 13 years The Corporate Academy has built a reputation for translating theatrical skills into professional growth. Its Yes And… workshops focus on team cohesion and creativity, Storytelling helps leaders communicate with impact, Stage Presence strengthens public speaking, and Getting to Yes puts negotiation theory into practice with role-play actors. Leadership and sales programmes further extend the toolkit .
For participants, the theatre setting is part of the magic: stepping onto the Courtyard Playhouse stage or working with trained actors creates a space that feels engaging and safe, while pushing people out of their usual routines.

Why now?
After the pause of summer, autumn is a natural reset point for companies. The Courtyard Playhouse Corporate Academy’s message is simple: when colleagues get back in sync, businesses thrive. And sometimes the best way to learn how to adapt in the boardroom is to spend a day on the stage.
