EDITORIAL INSIGHT: Context, industry insight and market perspectives of this news story

This expansion brings together two established North Wales businesses under a single, much larger base, signalling a notable investment in the region’s commercial infrastructure. While the move is primarily operational, it also reflects ongoing demand for both renewable energy solutions and leisure installations, sectors that have seen fluctuating fortunes amid recent economic pressures.

For local and regional customers, the consolidation is likely to streamline access to a broader range of services, from energy-saving installations to leisure products. The investment in new premises and expanded showroom facilities could also support further growth, positioning the combined business to serve not only North Wales but clients across the UK. This development comes at a time when businesses in construction, renewables, and home improvement continue to adapt to changing consumer priorities and cost pressures.

LONDON - OCTOBER 13, 2026

Two award-winning North Wales businesses have been brought together under one roof as part of a major investment and expansion in St Asaph. Gareth Jones has united Carbon Zero Renewables and UK Leisure Living at Caer Delyn Buildings on Glascoed Road, creating a single base for the companies and investing in the site for the future. The new 24,000 sq ft premises are four times the combined size of their previous locations in Mochdre and Colwyn Bay, providing significantly more room for both to expand.

The development includes new offices, a customer suite and retail outlet, alongside an atmospheric, well-lit showroom showcasing hot tubs, swim spas and infrared saunas. UK Leisure Living – which has sold more than 3,000 hot tubs in the last decade – has also diversified into swimming pool installation, providing a turnkey service encompassing design, installation, landscaping and aftercare. Meanwhile, Carbon Zero continues to expand its domestic and commercial renewable energy offering, with solar and battery installations helping customers reduce energy bills by thousands of pounds while becoming more sustainable.

Gareth, who is approaching 18 years in business and is a Director of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), says bringing the firms together has already proved a successful move. “It’s been a really good move for us, and it comes as there is a real upward trajectory and momentum across both businesses,” he said.

“The last few years have been challenging for many sectors. Geopolitical issues, rising costs and changing consumer confidence have all had an impact, and our industries have certainly not been immune to that.

“But we kept moving forward, diversifying and investing, and now we have two complementary, award-winning companies together in one fantastic location.”

Gareth added: “St Asaph is perfect for us. We are centrally positioned in North Wales but have customers across the UK, there is excellent access and parking, and we have the space to grow and give customers a better experience.”

Carbon Zero has delivered renewable energy projects for organisations including Mostyn Estates, Techniquest in Cardiff, Palins, Salisbury & Co Accountants, and the Waterloo Hotel in Betws-y-Coed, alongside residential customers in the region and further afield. Gareth said installations have had a positive financial impact for customers, with the results and feedback helping to drive the group forward.

Bringing the two entities together also makes commercial sense, with many of their services overlapping.

“The landscape has changed and we’ve changed with it,” he said.

“Customers increasingly want a turnkey solution. With UK Leisure Living we can take somebody from their first conversation about a swimming pool, hot tub, swim spa or sauna right through the whole process, including the landscaping and finishing touches.

“Then we have all that renewable energy experience within Carbon Zero, so there are plenty of opportunities for the two businesses to work together.

“We’ve got a fantastic team here and that’s a huge part of why I’m so positive about where we’re heading.”

Gareth has spent almost 18 years in the construction, renewable energy and leisure sectors, collecting many industry awards along the way. He is also founder of the popular Supercar Sunday events in Llandudno and has maintained close links with the construction industry through his work with the FMB.

Gareth has dubbed the next chapter “Project Growth”, with further investment at Glascoed Road and a renewed commercial push planned ahead of 2027. “We can utilise the space here even better and there are a lot of opportunities,” he said.

“We have plenty of ideas about what comes next, so watch this space.

“It’s an exciting time for both businesses and I can see 2027 being a very good year for us.”
