Evri employees support the opening of Emmaus Bradford

Evri employees, based at Morley in Leeds, spent a day earlier this week with the Emmaus team to support the opening of their new site on Pollard Lane in Bradford. The new site will support formerly homeless people by giving companions a home, meaningful work, and a sense of belonging.

The Evri team offered their time and support to help paint and decorate the new companion houses in preparation for the opening. The team also made donations of toiletries and bedding which are used as part of Emmaus’ accommodation packages for the new residents in the community. The employees enjoyed meeting some of the companions and a tour of the new facility which can accommodate 24 previously homeless people and currently has 5 residents.

Evri, the UK’s biggest dedicated parcel delivery company, partnered with Emmaus in 2020, since then over £127,000 has been raised through fundraising by Evri’s people and cash donations from the business. Evri continues to support the national charity through fundraising, discounted parcel sending and work experience. Evri has recently supported the Emmaus community in Bolton to get new windows which were over 90 years old, the new windows are helping to keep residents warm, keep noise to a minimum and make energy saving.

Darrel Tinsley, CEO of Emmaus Bradford, said: Evri’s time spent volunteering has not only helped to improve the physical environment of our community, but also helped to provide a sense of hope and belonging to those we serve.

I want to express my appreciation for the impact Evri have made on our community, and I hope that their experience volunteering with us has been as meaningful for you as it has been for us. We look forward to the continued partnership and support from the EVRI team in the future. It is a testament to your commitment to creating positive change in the world.

Emma Brown, Business Development Manager at Evri, said “It was humbling and grounding to meet with the companions and hear their stories, I’m so glad that we could spend time helping to get the rooms ready for the companions and feel like we’ve made difference, no matter how small.”
