Cathy Tazzyman, Lead Volunteer for Ingleborough Scout District, and her daughter, Georgia, successfully completed the AJ Bell Great Manchester Half Marathon on 18 May 2026, crossing the finish line after tackling the challenging 13.1-mile course in an impressive 2 hours and 34 minutes.
The mother-and-daughter team took on the event to raise funds for Ingleborough Scouts, helping local volunteers continue to provide warm spaces where young people can develop life skills, build confidence and feel a sense of belonging.
Training for a half-marathon requires dedication, fortitude and resolve. Despite the bodily and mental challenges involved, Cathy and Georgia remained motivated by the knowledge that every mile they ran would support local Scouting opportunities for young people across the district.
Speaking about the challenge, Cathy said: “I’ve been involved in Scouting for 16 years and, in my role as District Team Lead, I see first-hand the beneficial effect it has on young people. Scouting helps them build confidence, resilience, practical life skills and lasting friendships. Ingleborough Scouts is a fantastic example of that impact in our local communities.”
