As businesses continue to navigate global uncertainty, specialist NL – UK logistics operator Europa Road is strengthening its commitment to delivering resilient, reliable and customer-focused supply chain solutions.
With geopolitical disruption, volatile fuel prices and sustained cost pressures placing an additional burden on operations, customers are increasingly looking for stability, expert guidance and responsive support from their supply chain partners.
To further support this commitment, Europa Road in the Netherlands has strengthened its senior leadership team with the promotion of Dirk Van Thillo to Branch Manager.
His appointment reinforces Europa Road’s focus on providing customers with the expertise, consistency and local market knowledge needed to keep goods moving efficiently between the Netherlands and the UK.
Track Record in Road Freight
Part of Europa Worldwide Group, Europa Road in the Netherlands continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing a market-leading service for customers, nurturing local talent to develop its business operation.
Dirk Van Thillo, Branch Manager at Europa Road commented: “As I embark on this position, my key aim is to help our customers increase efficiency and meet their needs for market-leading transport solutions. As a result, I expect to grow our local team by 10-15 per cent year-on-year, to enable us to support customers even further.
“I understand the nuanced challenges our customers face, and my goal is to ensure we can remain proactive in our approach and provide a solutions-led service.”
With 60 years of expertise in transporting goods between the UK and the EU, Marten Meesweg-based Europa Road specialises in premium full load, part load and groupage services between Netherlands and the UK.
Specialists in Supporting Manufacturers Exporting to UK
Through Europa’s linehaul service, which operates between Dartford (Kent, UK) and the Netherlands, the operator manages 500 shipments per week through multiple daily departures, supporting customers predominantly across the finished parts sector – from cosmetics and machinery to food and automotive.
The Benelux market remains challenging, with limited growth and static trading across many sectors, however, Europa has experienced strong demand in key sectors including consumer goods, retail and e-commerce.
Further pressure is expected from the forthcoming legislation, including the new road-charging model for trucks and vans in the Netherlands, which came into force on 1 July.
Dirk added: “Similarly to many industries, we’re facing a time of great change. It has never been more important for exporters to work with reliable supply chain specialists. In the coming months, new legislative changes will highlight the importance of working with partners who can think creatively and are able to offer a consistent, high-quality service.
“Across our diverse customer base, the consistent requirement is the frictionless movement of goods between the EU and the UK. Since Brexit, the exporting landscape has been transformed with customs and freight expertise at its core. We continue to develop our operation to facilitate faster transit times, short supply chains and greater productivity for our customers operating across competitive markets.”
To guarantee timely deliveries and facilitate customers’ expectations brought on by the ‘Amazon Effect’, Europa Road manages its own vehicle network, predominantly transporting to the UK, but also serving Germany, Spain and Italy with a network of partners.
Dirk added: “As we look to the future, we’re preparing for continued uncertainty surrounding fuel prices, due to the war in the Middle East, the rise of AI and automation, and a heightened focus on greener transport solutions. While these challenges are currently a short-term concern, they have the potential to escalate; therefore, it is our role to ensure we continue our investment to remain ahead of the curve.”
Bringing with him two decades of experience in the logistics industry, Dirk excelled in his previous roles as Operations Branch Manager and Business Development Manager since joining Europa in 2022, leading to his promotion to lead both the growing sales and operational teams in Rotterdam.
Mat Jobson, Regional Manager for the Benelux, said: “We’re delighted to have promoted Dirk to the position of Branch Manager, bringing with him a wealth of experience across the industry. As we support customers to navigate global supply chain friction, we’re committed to investing in customer-focused solutions, infrastructure and frictionless trade to ensure goods keep moving smoothly between the EU and the UK.
“To have an individual with Dirk’s experience at the helm of our Rotterdam operation offers our customers a high-quality, reliable service.”
