London, UK – 01.10.24 – Diversity in the Boardroom Ltd is excited to announce the launch of its new coaching initiative, ‘Woman Up’, aimed at empowering women working in male-dominated industries. With only 29% of senior management roles held by women globally and less than 8% of Fortune 500 CEOs being female, the need for programs like ‘Woman Up’ is more critical than ever.
Despite growing efforts to promote gender diversity, women remain significantly underrepresented especially in male-dominated industries. In the tech sector, women account for only 26% of the workforce, and fewer than 10% hold executive roles. Similarly, women make up just 28% of the overall STEM workforce, with only 15% in engineering and 25% in computer science. In finance, leadership roles held by women stand at 19%, while the construction and sports industries report only 11% and 23% female representation, respectively. These statistics underscore the need for initiatives like ‘Woman Up’.
As Marian Wright Edelman said decades ago “you can’t be what you can’t see”.

Breaking Barriers in Male-Dominated Industries
Research shows that women in male-dominated fields face unique challenges, including gender bias, isolation, and lack of mentorship. Studies have found that 63% of women experience some form of workplace discrimination, while only 35% report having a mentor to help navigate their careers. Through personalised coaching, ‘Woman Up’ is designed to provide the strategic guidance and support women need to thrive in such environments.
