Cub Scouts from across North Yorkshire came together for CubJam 2026, a county camp that took place from 1 to 4 May near Pickering. The event brought together hundreds of children aged 8 to 10½ for a few days of outdoor activities and shared experiences.
One Cub said “I’m having such a fun time! So many awesome things to do!’
“My favourite activity was climbing the climbing wall, I loved cycling too!”
CubJam focused on giving Cubs the chance to try new things in a practical, hands-on way. Over the weekend, they took part in a mix of activities, games and challenges designed to build confidence, encourage teamwork and, most importantly, be enjoyable.
This year’s theme was Around the World, with activities inspired by different countries and cultures. One of the main moments of the weekend was the CubMania Carnival, which also formed part of celebrations marking 110 years of Cubs in the UK.
For many who attended, CubJam was their first experience of a large camp. It gave them the chance to meet new people, gain independence and spend time outdoors in a structured and supportive setting.
The event was organised by North Yorkshire Scouts and delivered by volunteers from across the county, who gave their time to make it happen.
North Yorkshire Scouts said the event helped give a clearer picture of what Cubs offer. It is open to all young people and centres around practical activities, time outdoors and learning new skills.
