Spain’s largest producer of organic cava is spreading a feel-good message across the UK this summer with the launch of a nationwide outdoor advertising campaign urging people to celebrate with Codorníu.
The outdoor campaign, which launches this month, will drive brand awareness across major UK cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. The creative taps into the celebratory mood of the nation with major sporting events and the UK’s festival calendar expected to boost cava sales.
The investment forms part of Codorníu’s long-term goal to become the market-leading Cava by 2025. The UK is currently the second largest market for Codorníu with sparkling wine exports representing 40 per cent of its total business. Sales in the UK have grown by 36 per cent in the past 12 months. And whilst the sparkling wine category has decreased by 2.2%, (cava by 4.4%, and prosecco by 3.4%), Codorníu has emerged as one of the major growth drivers in the category*.
This year the brand has continued to expand its product portfolio as it adapts to changing consumer demand. New products launched in 2024 include Codorníu’s first foray into alcohol-free wines and an RTD product-line featuring sparkling wine and low ABV hard seltzer spritzes. This spring, it also launched a range of five single varietal still wines to the UK market for the first time.
To further capitalise on the growth potential in the UK, the outdoor advertising campaign will be located in tactical road and rail locations in major cities to support local off-trade stockists and on-trade venues. It aims to place the brand front of mind amongst commuters, tourists, festival goers and urban audiences. In London, branded taxis and a London Underground activation will build awareness across the city.
The campaign will communicate the brand’s heritage, quality, and commitment to excellence, as well as encouraging people to embrace reasons to celebrate this summer. It is designed to captivate the attention of both wine enthusiasts and those new to the world of sparkling wines.
