Black Mountain Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce that registration is officially open for the 2026–27 BMCA Dance youth season, with classes beginning in September. This year brings the most robust class lineup yet — more styles, more levels, and more ways for young dancers in the Swannanoa Valley to find their groove.
What’s New This Season
The 2026–27 season is packed with exciting additions and expansions:
- More Tap — A full progression from Mini-Tap through Tap 3 gives dancers of every age a clear, supported path through one of dance’s most musical and joyful genres.
- More Ballet for Our Littlest Dancers — New and expanded options for ages 3–6 mean tiny movers can begin their ballet journey earlier than ever, with Mini Ballet 1 and Mini Ballet 2 offering story-based, age-appropriate technique.
- Jazz as Its Own Class — Jazz finally gets its own spotlight! Jazz 1 is now a dedicated class for ages 7–9, separate from other styles, with upbeat choreography and technique tailored specifically to jazz training.
- Musical Theater is Back! — Musical Theater/Jazz 2 returns to the schedule for tweens and teens, combining Broadway-inspired movement with jazz technique and plenty of stage presence.
- Acro/Tumbling for Strong Dancers — Two levels of Acro for Dancers give students the chance to build the strength, flexibility, and body control needed for rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and beyond — in a safe, low-pressure environment.
Classes for Every Young Dancer, Ages 3–16
From the tiniest toddlers to serious teens, BMCA Dance offers a full range of styles — ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, musical theater, and acro — organized into clear progressions so every dancer knows where they are and where they’re headed. Classes run on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with options designed to fit the rhythms of the school year.
Why BMCA Dance?
BMCA Dance is part of the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to making the arts accessible to everyone. The program is led by degreed, professionally trained dance educators whose curriculum is grounded in exercise science, child development, and NDEO standards. Tuition is kept intentionally low, scholarships are available, and an optional end-of-year recital — with no recital fee and reasonable costume costs — gives dancers a joyful chance to shine.
This is not a competitive studio. It’s a place where students build confidence, resilience, friendships, and a genuine love of movement — skills that reach far beyond the studio.
