This initiative is designed to help agents better sell golf and safari packages to South Africa, with a focus on four and five-star offerings.

EDITORIAL INSIGHT: Context, industry insight and market perspectives of this news story

Ascot Tours’ latest educational tour is a targeted initiative aimed squarely at travel agents specialising in high-end golf and safari travel to South Africa. The itinerary is designed to bridge a gap in product knowledge, enabling agents to experience both the Cape’s renowned golf courses and the wildlife-rich Bushveld in a single trip. For operators who have previously focused on just one region, this approach offers practical exposure to a broader range of experiences, which may help them diversify and strengthen their South African offerings to clients.

While the tour is limited in scale and audience, it reflects a practical response to the challenges travel agents face when selling complex, multi-region holidays. By including both golf and safari elements, and by providing agents with first-hand experience and marketing materials, Ascot Tours is positioning itself as a partner for agents looking to grow their premium South Africa business. The educational focus and selective application process signal an emphasis on quality over quantity, with the aim of building deeper relationships with engaged trade partners.

Press Release

Cape Town, South Africa, 2 November 2026

Ascot Tours has announced the 2027 Bushveld Golf Educational Tour, which runs from 28 April to 8 May 2027 and takes travel agents from Cape Town to the Bushveld. Seven travel agents will join founder and CEO Scott Edkins for ten nights, ten golf experiences and three game drives, from Table Mountain all the way to Sun City.

The idea is to put South Africa’s two halves of golf into one trip. Plenty of operators sell the Cape and have never seen the Bushveld, and plenty know Sun City but have never played the Winelands. This itinerary fixes both: three rounds around Cape Town and Stellenbosch, then a flight north to the Waterberg and Sun City for seven more golf experiences, five of them inside private reserves where giraffe, zebra and antelope share the fairways.

Below, you will find the route of the Bushveld Golf Educational Tour, the courses on the itinerary, what happens off the course, who the seven places are for and how to apply.

The 2027 Bushveld Golf Educational Tour Route

For Travel Agents Only

The trip starts at the foot of Table Mountain and finishes at Sun City, with the Winelands and the Waterberg in between.

Days 1 to 2: Cape Town and Steenberg

The group arrives in Cape Town, rides the cableway up Table Mountain and spends the first afternoon at the V&A Waterfront. The first round is at Steenberg.

Days 3 to 4: The Winelands and Pearl Valley

Next up is the Winelands, with a walking tour of Stellenbosch, a wine day in Franschhoek and golf at De Zalze and Pearl Valley.

Days 6 to 10: The Waterberg and Three Game Drives

A flight north takes the group to the Bushveld. Over these days, agents head out on three game drives in three reserves and play the courses where wildlife shares the fairways, including Legend and its Extreme 19th.

Days 9 to 11: Sun City and the Gary Player Country Club

The trip wraps up at Sun City, with rounds at the Lost City and the Gary Player Country Club, home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Ten Golf Experiences on the Bushveld Golf Educational Tour

Agents play ten golf experiences across the Cape and the Bushveld, so they can sell each course from first-hand knowledge.

The Cape Courses

Steenberg, De Zalze and Pearl Valley are the three Cape courses that clients ask for first, and they make up the Cape leg of the trip.

The Extreme 19th at Legend Golf & Safari Resort

At Legend, a helicopter flies golfers to the tee on Hanglip Mountain, 400 metres above a green shaped like Africa.

“The only helicopter-access par 3 in the world. Your clients will never have hit a tee shot like it.” Scott Edkins, CEO and Founder, Ascot Tours

The Bushveld and Sun City Courses

The northern leg takes in Elements, Zebula, the Lost City and the Gary Player Country Club. Five of the seven golf experiences up north are inside private reserves.

Beyond the Fairway: Safari, Sightseeing and Wine

The tour gives agents the non-golf side of the trip too, so they can sell the whole holiday and not only the tee times.

Cape Town and the Winelands

The first afternoon covers Table Mountain by cableway and the V&A Waterfront. In the Winelands, agents join a walking tour of Stellenbosch and spend a day tasting wine in Franschhoek.

Three Game Drives in Three Reserves

In the Bushveld, agents go on three game drives, each in a different reserve, which gives them a feel for how the safari side of a golf trip works.

Your Own Trip Video

A videographer films the whole trip for the agents, so each one goes home with footage to share with their own clients.

Who Can Join the 2027 Bushveld Golf Educational Tour

The places go to travel agents who already sell golf and safari to South Africa at the four and five star level, or who have decided to, and who want to do it in partnership with Ascot Tours. Scott Edkins hosts the trip himself and asks one thing in return: that agents come to sell.

The Participation Fee

A fully refundable participation fee applies, and it is credited back against the agent’s first two bookings with Ascot Tours. Agents can contact Scott for the fee details.

How to Apply

Places are not first come, first served. Applications go to Scott personally, and he then sends the booking form. Once the form is in, a place is held for seven days while the fee and flight confirmation come through.

Notes to editors

An educational trip, often referred to as a FAM trip (Familiarisation Trip), is a trip organised for travel agents to experience a destination, accommodation, activities and attractions first-hand. The purpose is to help travel agents gain practical knowledge of a destination so they can confidently recommend and sell it to their clients. During an educational trip, travel agents may visit hotels and lodges, experience tours and activities, meet local suppliers and learn about the destination’s offerings.
