The Happy Consultancy Group has opened a new office in Southeast Asia, as part of its ambitious growth plans to create happier places of work around the world. The announcement comes as the UK-headquartered consultancy unveils a fresh new identity and secures another leading industry award.

A specialist in workplace wellbeing, employee engagement and development, The Happy Consultancy Group, has opened its first international office in Malaysia. Having secured a raft of new clients, including Pos Malaysia – the country’s national courier and postal service – the UK-born business is already making waves in the APAC region.

The new oversees office sees The Happy Consultancy Group take its signature bespoke and off-the-shelf solutions to the Malaysian business market. From leadership development and employee engagement, through to on-boarding and customer experience, the organisation’s award-winning approach to employee engagement, learning and development has gone global.

Andy Fisher, co-founder of The Happy Consultancy Group, is heading up the Malaysian venture and comments: “This is a major milestone in the history of The Happy Consultancy Group, and one that I’m so proud to have reached so early in our overall journey. As we hit seven successful years, it’s fantastic that our services are in demand, so much so that we’ve committed to our second office – the first overseas.

Southeast Asia presents so many wonderful opportunities for us to bring our blend of intelligent learning, engagement, and creative design to a whole new workforce. The working culture is very different to the UK, but we are still able to create high impact solutions that help both people and businesses thrive. It’s been wonderful being welcomed to Malaysia and I’m excited to build our footprint here.”

This expansion news comes alongside the organisation’s rebrand, which sees the move from The Happy Learning Company to The Happy Consultancy Group. Having built a reputation for delivering ‘happiness by design’ to clients including Royal Mail, GWR, British Airways, BT, and Heathrow Airport, The Happy Consultancy Group solidifies the organisation’s original purpose of “creating happier places of work around the world.”

Recent data showcases the stark reality of the UK’s workforce woes: Indeed’s Work Happiness Score, the largest study of workplace happiness, found that around 36% of people are unhappy at work. There are also said to be 9.8 million Brits who are actively job hunting daily, with around three in five employees feeling disengaged with their workplace.

Likewise, Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace 2022 Report revealed that stress amongst the world’s workers reached an all-time high, with almost half feeling the burden of stress. Wellbeing in Europe and South Asia was hit hard in 2021 too, particular by Covid-19 and South Asia was said to have the lowest wellbeing in the world at 11%, in the study.

Helen Lawrence, who co-founded of The Happy Consultancy Group alongside Andy Fisher, comments: “There really are some shocking statistics around workplace unhappiness, but we must focus on what that actually means. People’s mental health is suffering, and businesses are struggling to (re)engage their workforces. The Happy Consultancy Group is able to go in, get under the skin of how a business works, and then create solutions that not only make people happier and help them unlock their full potential, but make businesses stronger and more successful too.

There’s so much good news for us at the moment, in what we’re calling our ‘Seven Year Switch’. Instead of feeling uneasy at the seven-year mark, we’re even more passionate in the pursuit of our purpose. Our rebrand demonstrates just how much we’ve grown; we’re about more than learning and development, and now we’re able to offer full-service consultancy that really moves the dial for our clients.

The incredible Happy People team and our Happy Alliance are crucial to this success, and I thank them for helping us reach this latest milestone.”

The Happy Consultancy Group’s work was recently recognised by the Personnel Today Awards, which celebrate the best achievements and innovations across HR, learning, and development. Famed for “unlocking the power of people to deliver great customer experience and results,” The Happy Consultancy Group was named ‘Learning & Development Supplier of the Year’ at the annual ceremony, which took place in November.
