Business Energy Prices Increase By Over 100%

With the current energy crisis, and there not being a price cap on business we have seen some crazy figures come in. Lincs Aquatics energy prices have increased by over 100% from £30,000 to well over £64,000.

With our energy providers telling us that there will be more to come soon. This is a cause for concern, but with there now being a new prime minister hopefully she will be able to implement the changes needed to help support businesses. As there is no price cap on business energy it can make for some very worrying times.

For Lincs Aquatics, at the start of the year, they were having a very open discussion regarding getting wind turbines, and solar panels. They have also reached out to find out if there are any other options we can have for renewable energy. At the moment we are still in the planning stages.

But at the moment Lincs Aquatics have been actively looking at ways they can not only lower the cost of the business but to take steps to help lower energy usage. This includes switching over to LED lighting, scaling down our livestock to have minimal tank running, and also looking at other ways to lower the running cost of the business.

One way that Lincs Aquatics have helped lower ther,e day to day running cost is by implementing their own delivery service. From the outside you think that this would increase the cost, but with the rising cost of sending a parcel or pallet it often works out more economically friendly for them to do there own deliveries.

In regards to consumer spending, we are still seeing consumers investing in the hobby, and investing a fair amount on a full set up! However, we are seeing more people leaving the hobby, due to the worry of how much a fish tank costs to run along with all the other worries they have.

In recent weeks we have had a few phone calls regarding rehoming fish and reptiles, which is upsetting as these are people’s pets, its as if they have decided to either eat and heat their homes this winter or keep a pet.
