Tools audit compliance ahead of UK Cyber Security Bill – Spring 2026
Leading international systems integrator, ITI Group today launched its PI System Security and Performance Engine for businesses using AVEVA PI Real-Time Intelligence Systems within their Operational Technology framework. The tool has been released ahead of the UK’s Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, expected in Spring 2026
Your real-time data historian is an OT‑IT bridge and is therefore a high-value, high‑risk asset.
With the introduction of the UK Government’s Cyber Security & Resilience (Network & Information Systems) Bill it is essential that Critical National Infrastructure organisations take steps to strengthen their cyber risk management and prepare for increased regulatory and third-party obligations and oversight.
The ITI Audit tool is deployed remotely to securely collect status and performance data, with no interruption to system function and no requirement to place an engineer on-site. The raw data is extracted and analysed via the automation of over 200 system data checks.
Commenting at the launch, Damien O’Reilly Head of Digital Operations with ITI Group noted:
“Our new audit tool has proven benefits for sites deploying AVEVA PI systems. It is non-invasive to ongoing operations, can take a fraction of the time associated with traditional audits and highlights potential cost savings and efficiency gains. The security aspect of the audits will be particularly relevant to national critical infrastructure facilities when the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill is passed in the Spring of 2026.”
An ITI PI assessment evaluates and prioritises any identified actions concerning:
- Security & Compliance – ensuring configurations align with modern security principles and regulatory expectations (including NIS2).
- Data Integrity – confirming operational data is accurate, complete and available.
- Operational Efficiency – identifying performance issues and improving maintainability.
- Future Readiness – validating scalability and long‑term system value.
- Deduplication & Redundancy – exposing duplicate or unused licences.
- Digital Enablement – highlighting opportunities for digital transformation.
- Strategic Insight – uncovering untapped capabilities and aligning data strategy with business goals.
