NAPLES, IT - March, 05

The transition to a circular economy has gained remarkable momentum in recent years. It is now firmly embedded in public debate and increasingly reflected in business strategies across Europe. Yet when we look closer at consumer awareness and the real adoption of circular practices, the picture becomes more complex. Knowledge and engagement still vary significantly depending on age groups, purchasing habits, and everyday behaviours.

Consumer awareness is a crucial starting point. But awareness alone is not enough. For the circular economy to truly become a reality, knowledge must translate into action. It must inspire consumers to recycle more actively, return products at the end of their life cycle, and experiment with circular products and services designed to extend value and reduce waste.

This is exactly where the SYMBA Project steps in. As part of its mission to strengthen circular ecosystems across Europe, SYMBA is analysing regional dynamics to map waste relationships at the regional level, helping maximise the use of local resources and unlock new opportunities for industrial symbiosis. But understanding the system also means understanding the people within it. And that means listening to consumers.

We are therefore excited to launch the SYMBA Consumer Perception Survey.

Your insights will help us better understand how citizens perceive circular practices, how familiar they are with them, and what motivates or prevents them from adopting more sustainable behaviours in their daily lives.

The survey is available in five languages:
English
Italian
Spanish
German
French

Simply choose the language you feel most comfortable with and share your perspective. Your contribution will directly support our research and help shape strategies that make circular solutions more accessible and impactful!

Because building a circular future is not only about technologies, policies, or industries. It is about people, choices, and collective responsibility.

By taking part, you help us move one step closer to a world where industrial symbiosis turns waste into opportunity and resources stay in motion instead of being lost.
