BLOKK, the mobile privacy app, is introducing a new VPN feature on Android that allows people to change their IP address and virtual location. This update builds on BLOKK’s existing protection, which already blocks millions of scam and tracking domains directly on the device without requiring an account. It also continues the BLOKK team’s aim of being the all-in-one privacy and security app for mobile devices.
BLOKK was designed from the start to protect users without collecting personal information. This commitment is clearly demonstrated by the decision to eliminate account creation entirely during onboarding and throughout app use.
BLOKK previously had an “On-device VPN” which filtered traffic in real time and blocked tracking and scams across all apps and browsers. The “On-device VPN” was similar to a privacy shield, but it did not include IP address or virtual location changes.
With the new VPN feature, users now get the same core protection plus the ability to:
Change their IP address and select a virtual location
Encrypt internet traffic through remote VPN servers
Increase their privacy on public WiFi and in restricted networks
BLOKK’s core principles remain unchanged:
No account or sign-up
User’s activity stays private
All filtering stays on the device
Users can continue using BLOKK’s original local filtering or enable the new VPN feature for added encryption and location privacy, all within the same app.
Archie Crossland, Product & Growth lead at BLOKK, said:
“Most VPNs ask for your email, a username, a password and sometimes even your phone number, just to change your IP Address and offer little to no actual privacy. BLOKK asks for none of that. Our new VPN gives you full IP privacy with no account, no tracking, and no link between you and your activity. Delete the app, and there’s nothing left behind. That’s what real privacy looks like.
This is the most significant leap we’ve made together as a team. The ability for our users to change their IP address takes BLOKK beyond the security offerings of traditional VPNs and our competitors.
By adding one of the most significant pieces in the puzzle on our roadmap to becoming the all-in-one privacy app, we are bringing users even more control and freedom, and we are proud to offer it at an affordable price too.”
The feature will be available on the BLOKK app on Android, with iOS scheduled for release later on in July. No account is required, and Users receive a 7 day free trial with no payment required.
