New HiQ Tyres & Autocare data reveals a Peugeot Expert in Northamptonshire has travelled an astonishing 488,100 miles, equivalent to driving around the Earth more than 19 times

Northamptonshire is home to Britain’s hardest-working vehicle, according to new research from HiQ Tyres & Autocare.

In a survey of nearly 60,000 vehicles across its nationwide network, HiQ Tyres & Autocare uncovered one Peugeot Expert in Northamptonshire that has travelled an incredible 488,100 miles, making it the highest-mileage vehicle recorded anywhere in the UK. (1)

To put that into perspective, the van has covered enough ground to drive around the Earth more than 19 times, highlighting just how far modern vehicles can go when they’re properly maintained.

The county didn’t just produce the overall winner. HiQ’s research found that three of the UK’s highest-mileage vehicles were all recorded in Northamptonshire, underlining the county’s reputation for keeping vehicles working hard for longer. Alongside the record-breaking Peugeot Expert, the study uncovered a Mercedes-Benz Vito with 429,976 miles and a Vauxhall Zafira with 407,272 miles.

Craig Sprigmore, Retail Director, HiQ Tyres & Autocare, said: “Finding Britain’s highest-mileage vehicle in Northamptonshire was an incredible result, but what surprised us even more was discovering that three of the UK’s highest-mileage vehicles all came from the same county.

“Reaching nearly half a million miles isn’t something that happens by accident. It’s a testament to owners who invest in regular servicing, preventative maintenance and looking after their vehicles over many years.

“Every vehicle has a story to tell, whether it’s a family car that’s travelled the country on holidays or a trusted workhorse that’s supported someone’s business for years. We’d love to hear from more motorists who think their vehicle deserves a place in The High-Mile Club.”

Helping vehicles go the distance

The discovery forms part of HiQ’s new High-Mile Club, launched after the company analysed vehicles from across the country in search of Britain’s hardest-working motors.

While very few vehicles will ever approach half a million miles, reaching six-figure mileage is increasingly achievable with regular servicing and preventative maintenance.

Regular servicing, MOTs and simple vehicle health checks can help identify minor issues before they become more costly repairs, while maintaining the correct tyre pressures, checking fluid levels and replacing worn components can all help improve reliability and extend a vehicle’s lifespan.

HiQ Tyres & Autocare is now inviting drivers across the country to join The High-Mile Club by sharing a photo of their odometer in the search for Britain’s highest-mileage car or van.

Drivers who think they have a vehicle capable of beating the current record are invited to join The High-Mile Club by sharing a photo of their odometer on Instagram and tagging @hiqautocare with the hashtag #HiQHighMileClub. (2)

HiQ Tyres & Autocare operates more than 230 locations nationwide, each offering car servicing, MOT testing, tyres and vehicle maintenance for a wide range of vehicles. Backed by Goodyear, it is renowned for its professional and seamless customer experience.
