A Midlands-based family funeral firm has been bringing a smile to people’s faces by handing out roses on Pay It Forward Day (28 April).
M.A. Mills, which has branches in Allenton and Cotmanhay in Derbyshire and Aspley and Radcliffe on Trent in Nottingham, was proud to play its part alongside 88 other countries worldwide celebrating the initiative. The funeral firm chose to hand out a total of 120 roses across its four branches to unassuming passersby.
The bus driver and passengers of an Ilkeston Flyer were just a handful of participants lucky to receive a rose across Derbyshire, alongside many families who have recently been supported by the funeral firm in recent months in Nottingham.
Julia Carty, General Manager at M.A. Mills, said: “The team really enjoyed taking part in Pay It Forward Day. It was fantastic to see the pure shock and joy brought to people’s faces on receiving a rose simply for passing by, and even more special to see some familiar faces of families we have recently supported to lift their spirits.
“We’re here when people need us most, offering that high-quality service but at a lower price point to support families in our community who are experiencing one of the biggest cost of living crises in a decade. We’re glad we could play a small part in a global initiative to bring a smile to people’s day.”
