Press Release

Germany 30th April 2026

AIT Home Delivery, a wholly owned subsidiary of AIT Worldwide Logistics, has strengthened its European leadership team in Germany with the appointments of respected logistics experts Ralph Decker as Managing Director and Axel Mallon as Head of Sales.

The dual hires mark a significant step forward as AIT accelerates the rollout of its industry leading two-person home delivery model, already redefining premium final-mile services across Germany.

AIT’s German operation is rapidly gaining traction, transferring its proven UK model into a market primed for innovation in two-person delivery. With strong early momentum in both customer interest and service uptake, the appointments of Ralph Decker and Axel Mallon add significant experience and leadership at a pivotal stage of growth.

Ralph Decker joins AIT with more than 15 years’ experience with an international logistics provider, including nine years as a divisional Managing Director. During his career he has worked extensively across both B2B and B2C markets, recruiting major accounts, driving operational growth and improving profitability.

Axel Mallon brings more than 30 years of sector experience, including over a decade with a leading home delivery provider. Renowned for his hands-on, customer-centric approach, he is committed to ensuring that every service promise is met in full. “I’m not just a sales guy who sells and then goes,” Axel Mallon says. “I want to see things work—and make sure that everything we promise, we deliver.”

Gary McKelvey, AIT’s Vice President of Global Home Delivery, who leads the German team, said: “Our German operation has made a very strong start, and we’re seeing real momentum in both customer interest and service uptake. Appointing Ralph and Axel at this stage is a clear statement of intent. Their combined experience, market knowledge and leadership will be instrumental as we scale the business and establish AIT as a premium final-mile partner in Germany.

“AIT is bringing something genuinely new to the market—a service that will revolutionise two-person home delivery in Germany. Backed by our proven UK model, cutting-edge technology and a highly experienced local team, it is a true game changer for the German final-mile sector.”

AIT’s European expansion is anchored by a state-of-the-art 200,000 sq. ft (20,000 sq. m) facility in Hannover, offering storage for more than 9,000 pallets and strategically located near the A2 and A7 motorways. From this central hub, AIT has launched Germany’s first dedicated next-day, two-person delivery solution, capable of reaching over 94% of core regions in Germany.

The service includes delivery to the room of choice, removal of packaging, and optional installation, all underpinned by advanced technology that mirrors AIT’s highly successful UK model. Customers receive four-hour timed delivery windows, real-time ETA updates, and the option to select their preferred date, ensuring a seamless delivery experience.

Convenience is central to AIT’s proposition, reinforced by market research showing that German home delivery expectations closely mirror consumer behaviours in the UK. German consumers expect precise delivery arrangements and services that allow immediate use of their purchases, including room-of-choice delivery, packaging removal and optional installation.

Early engagement from major retailers and manufacturers has been exceptionally strong, with partners welcoming reduced lead times and six-day service at no additional cost.

For Axel Mallon, the heart of the role lies in delivering a service experience that feels personal. “We’re not simply moving furniture; we’re delivering comfort, excitement and a sense of home,” he says. “Our crews enter customers’ personal spaces, and we want every customer to feel happy and cared for when we arrive. It’s about delivering an experience, not just a parcel.”

Ralph Decker added: “German customers have high expectations. While basic transport is competitive, customers are willing to pay more for added services that genuinely improve the experience. Next-day and nominated-day delivery are particularly popular, and the ability to buy large items online and receive them quickly is still new and exciting.”

Supported by 11 regional depots, an expert national logistics team and an IT-led platform capable of precise delivery scheduling down to individual postal codes, AIT Home Delivery has positioned itself for significant, sustained growth in Germany. With a full in-country sales team now being established, the business is committed to building a premium, reliable two-person delivery network that sets a new benchmark for service in the industry.

With strong early momentum, a growing infrastructure and experienced leadership in place, AIT Home Delivery is positioning itself as a new benchmark for premium two-person delivery in Germany.
