Senior advisor joins to strengthen client-facing risk, capital, and analytics capabilities
Montauk Point Ltd. today announced that Dr. Gero Michel has joined the firm to lead its risk and analytics. He will deliver advanced risk capital analytics and advisory services to clients, translating complex analysis into commercially actionable insight.

His leadership strengthens our ability to provide clients with clearer risk insight, more capital-efficient structures, and practical analytical support for strategic portfolio decisions” said Adam Szakmary President of Montauk Point.
Dr. Michel brings over 35 years of global experience across insurance and reinsurance underwriting and enterprise risk management. He has held senior leadership roles at AIG, Montpelier Re, RMS, Chaucer, and Aon. His experience spans portfolio optimization, capital allocation, and underwriting analytics, with deep expertise in catastrophe and emerging risks including climate, cyber, and geopolitical exposures. He has advised boards, regulators, and global institutions on capital strategy and risk management. Dr. Michel holds a PhD in Geoscience and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School.
In this role Dr. Michel will:
- Lead the Montauk Point risk and analytics platform, delivering risk analytics, portfolio optimization, and strategic advisory tools and insights to support client strategies;
- Translate complex model outputs into clear, decision-ready insight supporting capital efficiency and resilience; and
- Build and enhance client-facing analytics capabilities, including model governance, validation frameworks, and modern data tooling.
