Press Release

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, NUT, 26 JULY, 2026

More than 20,000 people have already experienced Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena since the exhibition opened less than two weeks ago with marriage proposals, glowing reviews and visitors travelling hundreds of miles helping to make it one of the region’s biggest attractions of the summer.

With just over two weeks remaining before the exhibition closes on 9 August, organisers are encouraging anyone yet to experience the spectacular immersive show to book soon.

Since opening, visitors have travelled from across the UK, including Edinburgh, Cumbria, Yorkshire and beyond, to step inside Van Gogh’s masterpieces, with many describing the experience as “mesmerising”, “breathtaking” and “unforgettable”.

The exhibition has already provided the backdrop for two marriage proposals, creating unforgettable memories alongside its stunning digital journey through the life and works of one of the world’s most celebrated artists.

Social media has also been awash with hundreds of photographs and videos shared by visitors, with the exhibition’s immersive projections proving one of the North East’s most photographed experiences this summer.

Among the comments from visitors are:

“Absolutely breathtaking – I didn’t want it to end.”

“The most immersive and emotional exhibition I’ve ever experienced.”

“Worth every penny. The music, the visuals, everything was incredible.”

“You don’t have to love art to love this.”

The exhibition has also attracted widespread media attention since arriving in Newcastle, with regional broadcasters, newspapers and lifestyle titles praising the experience.

Emily Ebbels, Marketing Director at Annerin Productions, said:

“The response from visitors has been incredible. Seeing more than 20,000 people experience Beyond Van Gogh in less than two weeks is a fantastic milestone, but what has been even more rewarding has been hearing the emotional reactions from people as they leave.

“We’ve welcomed visitors from right across the UK and have seen families, friends and couples creating really special memories here – including two marriage proposals. It’s been wonderful to see so many people sharing their experiences on social media and recommending the exhibition to others.

“With just over two weeks left before we leave Newcastle, we’d encourage anyone thinking about visiting not to leave it too late.”

Beyond Van Gogh transforms more than 300 of Vincent van Gogh’s iconic works into a breathtaking immersive experience using state-of-the-art projection technology, an evocative original score and specially curated storytelling.
