UK Leading The World In Remote Work; Businesses Can Rely On Specialists To Recruit

Emerging data indicates that the United Kingdom is among the world’s leaders when it comes to offering remote work. Although some businesses have scaled back on remote work over the past few months, and even as some companies attempt to enforce return-to-office mandates, the amount of UK employees working remotely at least part of the time still outpaces global averages. This is just one reason why British employers looking to recruit the best talent for their remote positions can still rely on experts in the field to help them come out on top in a fiercely competitive market.

One such organisation is RemoteWorker, an online jobs board and talent acquisition service that specialises in helping hiring managers and businesses connect with job-seeking professionals for remote work positions. Its CEO, Joseph Boll, notes that given the current labour market trend,

“We have long believed that remote work is here to stay,” says Boll, “and time is proving us right. More and more jobs are offering at least some form of remote work to attract new employees, while others are turning to it to tempt existing employees to stay loyal.

“But remote work really shouldn’t be a last resort; it’s a huge benefit in and of itself, both for employers and employees. Waiting until the last minute to go remote may be too late because your best candidate has likely already been offered it by a competing company by then. This is where resources and services like RemoteWorker can help make sure you’re winning the best talent for your remote job right from the start.”

Recent findings by Future Forum confirmed that most employees in the UK are working remotely at least part of the time, with a lion’s share 61 per cent working hybrid and 11 per cent working fully remotely. This is compared to the global average of 46 per cent of employees working hybrid and 18 per cent working fully remotely. Even further, just 27 per cent of the UK’s workers are in office full-time, as compared to a global average that is 10 percentage points higher.

Further, 71 per cent of UK workers prefer to work remotely at least part of the time, according to Future Forum, while 61 per cent are looking to find a new job at a different company within the next year.

Added to these findings is recent research by employment giant LinkedIn, which found that while just roughly 12 per cent of jobs in the UK are remote, those same jobs receive 20 per cent of the region’s applicants.

“Together, this shows that remote work is in high demand and workers are not afraid to seek out the opportunity that provides them with what they want,” says Boll. “To get ahead and stay ahead, it pays to get help from the experts in the recruitment field.”
