Two new appointments for award-winning agency

Birmingham-based eCommerce agency, Cake, are celebrating the appointment of two new team members following a year of exponential growth. The multi-award winning agency has gone from strength to strength within the past year, with the team growing 31%.

Dan Sommers has joined the business as Senior Designer, whilst Dan Reeves has joined the team as a Frontend Developer; with the addition of the new recruits seeing Cake grow to 21 team members. They will work on an array of Cake’s Birmingham-based retail brands, including Go Thrift and new clients Aran Woollen Mills and The Positive Teacher Company.

Cake is committed to championing young talent and supporting recent marketing and tech graduates through its ongoing pledge to hire new graduates every year. In line with this, the agency recently welcomed a group of students from Birmingham City University to its office to ‘speed date’ various members of the team to learn more about the creative industry and the roles available within it.

Speaking on Cake’s growth, the agency’s CEO and Founder, Chris Thomas, commented:

“I am so pleased to welcome Dan and Dan to the team – it’s always exciting to introduce fresh talent to the business and I look forward to seeing them develop and hone their expertise within their new roles whilst providing us with new energy and perspectives.

“As a young and fast-growing agency, building a highly skilled and effective team is a top priority for the business and enables us to provide our clients with a full 360-degree service and consistently deliver incredible results.”

Alongside these latest appointments – which includes Alex Crickmay also recently joining the team as a Frontend Developer – Cake has gone from strength to strength within recent months; from trebling its sales in 2021 to winning multiple awards, including ‘Fast Growth Business’ at the 2021 West Midlands Business Awards.

“After a really strong start to 2022, I couldn’t be prouder of the team and their hard work and am really excited ahead of this next chapter for Cake.

“Having invested in a new office space in the heart of London and recently winning ‘High Growth Business of the Year’ at the West Midlands FSB Awards earlier this year – to now be finalists in the UK-wide awards later this month – we’re looking forward to taking our growth to the next level this year and beyond!” added Chris.

Based in  the Jewellery Quarter,  Cake  recently celebrated its fifth birthday and has established  its reputation as one of the region’s fastest growing agencies since its inception in 2017. What’s more, Cake has celebrated several other notable appointments within the past 12 months, including welcoming Andy Brown as Non-Executive Director and Luther Spicer as Creative Director.
