The Prince’s Trust partners with Manchester’s Cookson First Aid

The Prince’s Trust has announced a new partnership with the new first aid scheme, Cookson First Aid in Greater Manchester. This will see free 60-minute sessions delivered to 16 to 25 year-olds as part of The Prince’s Trust Explore programme.

Explore courses are delivered at The Prince’s Trust Manchester centre in Ancoats with the aim of developing skills and confidence for the future through one-to-one support and group activities.

Award-winning entrepreneur and founder of Myprotein, Oliver Cookson, has launched Cookson First Aid to bring free first aid training to the Greater Manchester region.

Julie Ainscough from The Prince’s Trust says: “We are delighted to partner with the Oliver Cookson Foundation for the launch of Cookson First Aid. Knowing how to administer CPR or use a defibrillator in an emergency situation can be the difference between life and death.

“We believe it’s so important to teach our young people the skills that could one day help save someone’s life. The initial response from our pilot sessions was fantastic and we look forward to delivering the training throughout our Explore programme in the coming months.”

The innovative new Cookson First Aid programme is fully funded by the Oliver Cookson Foundation and teaches a range of first aid and life-saving skills in just 60 minutes.

The not-for-profit organisation is led by Emily Harrison, CEO, who is now forging partnerships with community groups across the Greater Manchester region to access the free courses.

Each course is delivered by fully qualified and experienced first aid professionals and will be provided completely free of charge. In the sixty-minute training sessions, attendees will be taught how to recognise the signs of cardiac arrest, how and when to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and how to use a defibrillator.
