Special Events to Kick Off International Day for Unreached: Alliance Draws Attention to Third of World’s Population without Gospel

Colorado Springs, CO:  A coalition of 50+ ministry organizations focused on international missions is planning special events in observance of the International Day for the Unreached (IDU), which is observed on May 19.  The Alliance for the Unreached was founded in 2015 to “advocate for the cause of the world’s peoples unreached by the Gospel message.”  A radio broadcast and series of webcasts will help draw attention to the estimated 3 billion people who have little or no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“The Alliance for the Unreached was formed by a coalition of ministries committed to taking the gospel message in various ways to unreached people groups across the globe,” says McLinden.  “Some are sending agencies that place missionaries in remote nations.  Others provide specific resources, such as gospel radio broadcasts in dozens of languages, or translations of Bibles and Scripture portions used for evangelism.  What makes the Alliance unusual is the sheer number of organizations that have come together with the single purpose of engaging people in the broader task — to see that those who have no exposure to the message of salvation in Christ can have that opportunity.”

Airing on Saturday, May 11 will be a joint broadcast with the Moody Radio Network entitled “Until All Hear” and featuring interviews with missions leaders.  The live program airs from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Central time from Moody’s broadcast facilities in Chicago.  The program can be heard on any Moody station or online at MoodyRadio.org.

Starting Tuesday, May 14 is a series of three nightly webcasts – “Gateway to the Unreached” – a chance for participants to hear from Alliance member organizations about their work reaching Unreached people groups with the gospel message.  Registration information about the series of free webcasts is available at alliancefortheunreached.org.

“More than three billion people live in regions where there are no Christian believers, no churches and no Bibles.  They’ve never heard the message of hope offered by the gospel,” McLinden stresses.  “Yet the Great Commission — Jesus’ final words to His followers — commands us to take that message to all peoples, to the very ends of the earth.  Our role as an alliance of ministries is to engage people in that task.”
