Rehabilitation business expands in Leeds city centre to meet growing demand

MOTIONrehab, which helps improve the lives of adults and children with neurological impairments or disabilities, is expanding to meet a growing demand for its services.

The business, which previously operated from the ground floor of its premises at Unit 10 Cliffe Park in Leeds, has now expanded into the whole of the two-storey building.

Run by Sarah Daniel, MOTIONrehab offers innovative, technology-led rehabilitation therapies to people who are recovering from a stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, or have multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or cerebral palsy.

Sarah started off on her own 15 years ago in a rented physio room at a clinic in Harrogate.

Since then, MOTIONrehab has grown significantly and has a staff base of 40 at clinics in Leeds, York and Hull.

Four years ago, MOTIONrehab opened the UK’s first Robotics-led Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Leeds, which led to it being recognised by Google as an innovator and disruptor in its sector.

Now, as demand for its cutting-edge intensive rehabilitation treatments increases, it is expanding the footprint of its operations at Asquith House, Cliffe Park, Morley, Leeds.

MOTIONrehab appointed Square One Law as its legal advisers for the negotiations with its landlord, S2W Property 101 Ltd, to agree a deal to take a new lease of the whole of the premises. Merissa Galley, Property Senior Associate, was the lead advisor.

Sarah said: “We were finding that demand was outstripping our ability to meet a growing need for our specialist services due to a lack of capacity and space at our current clinic.

“Our Leeds location is ideal, so we were reluctant to move and, therefore, we are delighted that, with the support and expertise of Square One Law, we have been able to take over the whole of the building we currently occupy.

“This growth will enable more people to access our intensive neurological rehabilitation treatments, which have the ability to improve the lives of our clients.”

Merissa Galley, Property Senior Associate at Square One Law, said: “In our experience the demise of cities’ commercial hubs has been over-stated.

“Admittedly, town centres, high streets, business parks and trading areas are having to reinvent themselves to meet changing consumer demands and for many this has involved embracing a more diverse range of activities.

“Leeds has a vibrant property market and, as it evolves to meet new trends, businesses, as demonstrated by MOTIONrehab, can thrive which is reflected by its need to expand.

”We are very proud to have been able to assist MOTIONrehab with its expansion in Leeds and are looking forward to supporting the business in achieving its ambition to provide its patients with expert personalised therapy, designed to help each patient reach their full potential.”

MOTIONrehab delivers independent private rehabilitation at its clinics and in people’s homes across the Yorkshire and Humberside region.
