Midlands property development firm’s next generation pledge

Leading Midlands property development company, Rainier Developments, has agreed to help the next generation of property professionals.

Help is being delivered via the Pathways to Property and Chartered Surveyors Company, which is a charitable organisation that supports students in studying a property related degree and giving them opportunities once they have graduated.

It will initially see Richard Mees, Chief Executive of Rainier Developments, supporting 18-year-old David Xavier to fulfil his potential, whilst he is completing his undergraduate degree studying Real Estate at Birmingham City University.

David, who has moved to Birmingham from East London, will be supported by Rainier Developments by providing ongoing mentoring and work experience during his time at university.

David, who is a former pupil of St. Bonaventure’s Secondary School in East Ham, said: “I have only just started at university and feel like I have got a head start already because of the relationship I now have with Richard.

“I developed an interest in the property world during my time at school, but I just didn’t know how to go about gaining an opportunity where I could obtain practical experience.

“I am hoping that by working with Rainier over the next three years, I can start to identify the area that I want to go into, as well as starting to develop the beginnings of a pathway for my career.”

Richard added: “Property is an incredibly varied and challenging industry that should be built on having professionals that come from many different walks of life.

“Perhaps the most important aspect of that is ensuring that the industry is bringing through the best up-and-coming talent to ensure the industry continues to thrive in the years to come, and that is why I am keen to support individuals such as David to help them realise their potential.

“David has shown great passion and commitment so far by doing extra-curricular activities with Pathways to Property over the summer, and I am looking forward to working with him, and other students too, over the coming years.”
