Met Office Appoints Made Tech As Digital Services Partner In 2-Year Contract

Made Tech, a leading provider of digital, data and technology services to the UK public sector, is pleased to announce that the Met Office has appointed the Group as its Digital Services Partner, under a contract worth circa £7 million over the next 24 months.

Under the new contract, which expands the Group’s presence in the South West of the UK, Made Tech will support the Met Office to deliver problem-solving digital, data and technology solutions, which enhance and expand the organisation’s consumer-facing digital services offering, relied on by people across the globe.

Made Tech will help develop the Met Office website for desktop and mobile use, as well as native applications for both iOS and Android mobile devices, working closely with Bristol-based mobile innovation experts Calvium. Made Tech will also provide user-centred design and research to develop the user interface and user experience of the website and app. These digital services help ensure that life-saving warnings and world-class weather and climate information is accessible to UK citizens, helping them to stay safe and thrive.

Chris Frost, Head of Digital Services at the Met Office, said: “We are delighted to be working with Made Tech. The team’s expertise and capabilities shone through in their proposal, aligning with the Met Office’s vision for delivering exceptional digital services for our citizens. I look forward to developing this partnership over the next two years.”

Tom Taylor, Made Tech’s Head of Central Government, added: “The Met Office is a leader in digital delivery in the public sector, and has a storied history of using technology to improve society – not least by providing the nation’s most trusted weather forecasts. It’s an honour to be working with the Met Office, supporting them in meeting their ambitious digital goals and delivering on their mission to help people everywhere stay safe and thrive.”
