Teesside-based CFB Risk Management has continued its support for the local community with a significant £40,000 donation to the local fire cadet scheme.
The fire service cadet scheme, which is run by Cleveland Fire Brigade, helps young people aged between 11 and 14 learn what it takes to be a firefighter.
The scheme, which is run for cadets from Middlesbrough and Redcar, includes working towards a BTEC award in Fire and Rescue.
CFB Risk Management, which is a member of NOF, the UK business development and membership organisation for the energy sector, provides a range of specialist safety services including training, consultancy, fire engineering and asset protection. Having established itself in the industry intensive Teesside region, CFB Risk Management has subsequently taken its services internationally to support clients in a range of sectors.
As a Community Interest Company, CFB Risk Management, the commercial trading arm of Cleveland Fire Brigade, is committed to supporting organisations and charities in its local area with 65% of profits donated to good causes.
Among other recent recipients of donations from CFB Risk Management is Redcar-based Coatham House.
Coatham House is a small charity, which provides vital services to people between 16 and 25, in areas such as supported housing, resettlements, social lettings, training and volunteering.
CFB’s £15,000 donation will allow Coatham House to carry out much needed refurbishments at its New View Project. This refurbishment will include the creation of employee overnight office space, a communal kitchen and front of house maintenance.
Elaine Smith, Youth Development Manager from Cleveland Fire Brigade said: “This donation is so important to the ensure we can run the cadet service programme and provide opportunities for young people that will not only benefit them if they enter the fire service, but other areas of their lives.
“It will also support particular activities including attending a national cadet camp in the summer, which might not have been possible without this brilliant donation.”
CFB Risk Management managing director, Steve Bruce, said, “As a Community Interest Company we are able to take the profits we make from our commercial training and consultancy services to support important local organisations and charities. We are very proud to support the cadet service, particularly as we share a connection with Cleveland Fire Brigade, but also other causes such as Coatham House, which provides valuable support to people in our community.”
