Bellway Homes cultivates growth at Hunsley Primary school with flower donation

Hunsley Primary’s outdoor garden is set to blossom thanks to a generous donation from Bellway Homes.

The homebuilder, which is currently building on a site to the north of the Humber Estuary in Brough, donated 50 wildflower seed bombs to members of the school’s Eco-Team with the goal of transforming some of the outdoor areas into areas of wildflower wonder.

Emma Fitton-Cook, Bellway Homes’ sales manager, said: “We focus on creating communities and with Hunsley Primary being situated close to our development we wanted to help them with their mission to encourage wildflower growth around the school grounds.”

The seed bombs featured a mix of 24 native UK wildflower seed species and contain pollinator friendly seeds, which are designed to protect them from being eaten by wildlife and also encourage bees to pollinate.

Lucy Hudson, headteacher of Hunsley Primary, said: “With Spring fast approaching, our Eco-Team was eager to sow the seed bombs, ready to attract pollinating insects to the site. It is lovely to see such community support from our neighbours at Bellway. We have chosen to dedicate areas of our school site to rewilding, so the seed bombs will really help the team to achieve their eco goals.”

Palmer’s Grange is part of the £200 million Brough South project. Being built off Blenheim Avenue, it comprises of 154 homes – including two-bedroom bungalows, three- bedroom semi-detached, and three, four, and five-bedroom detached homes. And with the development being in the catchment area for Hunsley Primary, it’s likely future intakes of pupils will include an ever-growing number of pupils living in one of the new Bellway homes.

Prices on Bellway’s Palmer’s Grange development currently range from £319,995 to £389,995 for a family detached home and £474,995 for a five-bedroom executive detached home with double garage.
