Notes to editors

The Babington Avoca Collection Breakfast Special A rich and wonderfully balanced English breakfast tea created for Babingtons in the 1950s. An extraordinary Breakfast tea, made by blending three black teas: Ceylon, Darjeeling, and Yunnan. Pair with a delicious breakfast; eggs, bacon, or cream cakes and desserts Beneficial properties: black tea, known as ‘red tea’, in China, is produced with fully oxidized leaves of the Camelia Sinensis. The tea plant contains vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, and caffeine, which help us improve performance and concentration. Award Winning Earl Grey Imperial Our delightfully balanced and elegant version of the famous bergamot infused tea, enriched with lemon zest and vibrant petals. When creating our Imperial Early Grey, we wanted a bergamot tea in which the flavour of the tea wasn’t overwhelmed by the scent of the other ingredients. As a base we chose a Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka, to which we then added bergamot essence, lemon peel and flower petals, to make our blend delicious and good looking. In 2022, the Babingtons Earl Grey Imperial, Won Highly Commended at the Great British Food Awards Pair with savouries; smoked salmon, wild rice salad Pair with sweets: biscuits, apple cake, apple pie, carrot key and lemon pie Beneficial properties: black tea, known as ‘red tea’, in China, is produced with fully oxidized leaves of the Camelia Sinensis. The tea plant contains vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, and caffeine, which help us improve performance and concentration. Madame Blue Lady, Green Tea A sweet and scented blend of green tea with strong floral notes of cherry blossom and hints of tropical fruits. This mouth-watering, all-natural blend of Chinese Sencha green tea has a rich, floral cherry blossom note, blended with hints of soft tropical fruit. Pair with sweet treats; lemon pie, pavlova, Victoria sponge, shortbread, cheesecake, carrot cake and scones. Beneficial properties: green tea is the oldest of the tea categories and is produced mostly in China, with the buds of the Camelia Sinensis or with the bud and the first young leaves. Once the leaves are plucked, they are left to oxidize slightly before the process is stopped either by dry heat or by steam (Japan). Because green teas are only slightly oxidized they keep all the healthy benefits of the Camelia Sinensis, such as polyphenols, antioxidants, fluorides, minerals, and vitamins.
