Artificial Lawn Company lays the ground for the protection of pedigree paws

Back by popular demand at the 2024 Crufts Dog Show is Kent-based Artificial Lawn Company’s 15mm Pedigree Lawn, covering nearly 3000 square metres of official dog showing arenas, where every breed and size strutted their stuff at the NEC in Birmingham March 6-9th. The company’s lawn is the only one to be officially approved by the organisers for the agility classes as well as being used throughout the main arena and the young kennel club arena.

The choice of ground covering is an important part of the overall show aesthetics. Not only does it have to look good on camera for those watching on the television, but it also has to look great ‘in the flesh’ for those actually attending the show. It needs to be easy to clean to ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained when there are so many dogs involved, as well as tough an durable.

Equally, the ground needs to be capable of accommodating active dogs who need a secure and comfortable landing when performing agility and flyball heats.

“This is the 21st year we have been asked to provide the artificial lawn coverings for Crufts, and is probably the highlight of our year, heralding the start of the spring and what is usually our busiest time of year,” commented Sam Baylis, surveyor and salesman at Artificial Lawn Company. “Our team spends a lot of time when laying the grass, ensuring that the finished flooring is safe and secure no matter how rough and tumble the activities.”

At the end of the show, ALC rolls the grass back up and sells it at a discounted price. Due to its infamy (and great price), ALC’s Pedigree grass – as seen on Crufts – is often re-purposed into dog agility centres, dog homes, sports pitches, and even ditch liners for bowling greens.

Established in 2000, Artificial Lawn Company is one of the UK’s most experienced manufacturers and installers of premium artificial grass products. Located in Kent, the company works predominantly in the southeast of England, supplying quality artificial grass to builders and contractors for commercial and residential projects, as well as carrying out installation projects itself.
