Matt Vernon, Executive Chef for Angel Hill Food Co, won the People Development Award at the prestigious Contract Catering Awards.
Matt won the People Development Award in recognition of his work with the Angel Hill Food Co Production Chef apprenticeship scheme where he has successfully mentored apprentices through their learning journey.
His operational experience and role on the Executive Chef Team at Angel Hill Food Co, gave him an understanding of the day-to-day challenges the teams face, meaning he could ensure the training programme is relatable and relevant.
Apprentice, Kibrewosen Bereket, Angel Hill Food Co, said: “I was lucky to have Matt as my tutor as he is very patient and a lot of help. Having a chef as my tutor really made a difference as he understood my job and how my training would work in real life.”
It was the 11th year for the Contract Catering Awards which are judged by a top team of industry peers and professionals. The winners were announced at a glittering gala dinner, on 27 March at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, London Tower Bridge.
