The United Kingdom, October 14, 2022- GetApp’s latest study presents an analysis of how job applicants feel about the recruitment process. The study has found that 53% of UK employees are looking for positions with flexible working hours, whilst 46% prioritise jobs with good growth opportunities.
78% of those who applied for a job in the past year got and accepted the role
Of those candidates that went through a recruitment process in the past year, 78% received an offer of employment and accepted it, whereas 11% received an offer but declined it. Whilst 11% of respondents never received an offer from their latest job application.
The majority of job seekers use Indeed for job searches
According to the study, 67% of employee respondents stated they frequently use Indeed to look for jobs, LinkedIn comes in second place (38%), followed by social media platforms (27%). Whilst 25% of applicants tend to find and apply for job opportunities through people they know, and 23% use Reed (23%).
GetApp’s first recruitment study reveals how in terms of hiring among recruiters, LinkedIn is the prefered platform at 30%.
23% have faced discrimination during the recruitment process
When we asked employees if they had ever faced discrimination whilst applying for a job, 23% admitted to having experienced prejudice. Of those who answered yes, the following forms of discrimination were felt:
- Age and gender discrimination (31%)
- Discrimination based on ethnicity (23%)
- Disability (19%)
- Appearance (19%)
- Parent status (13%)
- Sexual orientation (12%)
- Religious affiliation (11%)
Which factors help in ensuring a smooth recruitment process?
48% of those surveyed stated they would appreciate feedback following each hiring stage. 44% would like transparency regarding the salary (44%) and a further 44% would favour an easy application process.
