A member of Shropshire Council was welcomed to Persimmon Homes’ Weir Hill Gardens community in Shrewsbury to hear about the developer’s work in delivering high quality homes for local people.
Cllr Alex Wagner was given a tour of the Shrewsbury development, meeting with the Persimmon team to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the housing sector.
Located to the south of the Shropshire town, Weir Hill Gardens offers a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes. With 30% of homes on the development to be transferred to a housing association partner, this new community offers a variety of homes and tenures.
Cllr Alex Wagner, Ward Councillor for Bowbrook, said: “It was really interesting to be invited to Weir Hill Gardens by the Persimmon team. Building decent, affordable and sustainable homes for the people of Shropshire is incredibly important, and it was in particular good to see the new social housing on site.
“There has to be a better way of getting councils, developers and residents to work together, and it was encouraging to talk about the ways in which the system could work better for everyone locally.”
Daniel Hassall, Managing Director for Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Cllr Wagner to Weir Hill Gardens, demonstrating our drive to create quality homes within Shropshire.
“As one of the largest developers in the West Midlands, we’re committed to creating successful and vibrant communities across the region and beyond – and ensuring that when we do this, sustainability and community impact are at the forefront of our work.”
