Local pupils name two brand new developments in Penistone

Local homebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West has enlisted the help of a local primary school in Penistone to name two brand new developments in the town.

Penistone St John’s Primary School were tasked with producing site names for the 5 star homebuilder, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, to feature at two new developments in Penistone.

As a result of the activity, two names were selected with Barratt Homes development unveiled as Penning Fold and the David Wilson Homes development named Penning Ridge. The names were a collective effort from 90 Year 6 pupils from Penistone St John’s Primary School, in an activity that aimed to let the pupils’ creativity run free whilst learning about the history of their local area.

As a thank you for taking part in the activity, the homebuilder donated a £100 voucher to the school which will be spent on activities and supplies to enhance the children’s learning.

Ann Nixon, Head of School from Penistone St John’s Primary School commented: “We were delighted to be given the opportunity to engage with this exciting activity with Barratt Developments Yorkshire West. The children had a fantastic time producing some creative names for the two new developments in Penistone and are very excited to spend the voucher!”

Sam Wood, Sales Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West said: “We were so impressed with the names that the pupils from Penistone St John’s Primary School produced. Penning Fold and Penning Ridge are the perfect names for the new collection of homes that will be built in Penistone and we hope to work with the pupils from the school again in the very near future.”
