Leeds restaurant commits to a year of supporting local homelessness charity

Award-winning Leeds restaurant chain De Baga has committed to supporting West Yorkshire homelessness charity, Simon on the Streets for the next 12 months.

The modern Indian restaurant based in Headingley and Chapel Allerton, North Leeds has signed up to support Simon on the Streets with a ‘£1 on the bill’ initiative where customers can donate an optional £1 to every order purchased throughout 2023.

The De Baga team will also hold a series of events for the homelessness charity throughout the year.

An exclusive event with De Baga and Simon on the Streets was held on Saturday 1st April at De Baga’s Chapel Allerton restaurant to launch the initiative and for guests to learn more about the restaurant and the charity it is supporting.

Param Singh Director of Operations of De Baga commented:

“We are excited to be teaming up with and supporting such a brilliant local charity, Simon on the Streets. It only takes you five minutes to walk down the high street of Leeds and other areas to see the rising crisis we are facing with homelessness and it is really hard to witness.

“By supporting Simon on the Streets throughout the rest of this year we hope to raise as many funds as possible to enable them to continue their tireless and brilliant work.”

Simon on the Streets (SOTS) CEO, Natalie Moran added:

“I am delighted that De Baga has chosen to support SOTS as their Charity of the Year. It’s been wonderful meeting with Param, Mandeep and the De Baga team over the last few months and seeing their passion for the work we do. Having the opportunity to come and talk to the staff about our outreach and where the money donated will go has also been fantastic.”

Continuing its fundraising efforts, a public event will be held on Thursday 27th April at 6.30 pm which will see De Baga hold a unique Indian dining and cocktail experience in a part of its Chapel Allerton restaurant specifically for guests to support Simon on the Streets.

Guests are invited to enjoy a bespoke cocktail on entry, three small plates, a raffle, an interactive quiz and a business card prize draw.
