Last week’s full moon sparked a remarkable phenomenon for Aberystwyth-based Driftwood Designs.
To mark the first full moon of the new year, artist Lizzie Spikes shared a picture of her annual Full Moons Calendar for 2023 which soon went viral and has so far seen over 63,000 shares and has resulted in an astronomical increase in sales!
The calendar has become a firm favourite for many of Driftwood Designs’ customers and each year Lizzie produces a new set of 12 original illustrations showing the beauty of the full moons throughout the year. Each picture is inspired by the beautiful local countryside, flora and fauna around Lizzie’s home in west Wales.
Initially posted on Lizzie’s Facebook page, the image was first shared in the UK and then across the Atlantic in the USA and Canada.
In previous years, sales of the Full Moons Calendar have been around the 200 mark but this year, in conjunction with last week’s first full moon of the year, sales have rocketed off the scale – to date, there have been over 2,500 orders from the USA and Canada and over 750 from here in the UK.
Driftwood Designs have had to renew and increase production of the calendar – which includes a USA/Canada-specific version – and are working full-tilt with their small, dedicated team to ensure all the orders are fulfilled.
