FRESH DISCOUNTS FOR STUDENTS AS NET OFFERS TRAM TRAVEL FOR JUST 60P

This freshers’ week, Nottingham students will be able get their hands on a Nottingham Express Transit (NET) Student Academic Year Tram Ticket for just £200.

This special heavily discounted price will be available for any student who visits NET’s stand at both the Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham freshers’ fairs. Once purchased, it can be used for unlimited tram travel across Nottingham which equates to 60p a day between 1 September 2023 and 31 July 2024.

Alongside the savings, students visiting the NET freshers’ stand can also try their luck at a ‘dip and flip’ competition, where hundreds of prizes can be won from a selection of the best-known entertainment and retail destinations across Nottingham. These include prizes from the likes of White Rose, National Ice Centre, Motorpoint Arena, Bierkeller, COW and the Theatre Royal.

A selection of smoothies, including the tropical Smooth Journies and zingy Just the Ticket will also be freshly made on the day by local caterers.

Alison Sweeney, Head of Marketing at NET said: “Whether students are freshers or refreshers, we’re really looking forward to meeting them as they head back to Nottingham for their studies. The cost of living is affecting everyone, so we’re pleased to be able to offer cheaper travel so they can study and see friends without any cost barriers. We have tram stops at popular student areas like Beeston, Highfields Park and Forest Fields and serve all major campus locations in Nottingham, making the tram a key part of the university experience.

“The lucky dip prizes we’re offering at the freshers’ fairs this year are really exciting, with some free academic year tram passes available and even access to some sold out concert tickets. Of course, alongside winning big, we’re also on hand to speak to any students and answer any queries they have about travelling around the city.”

With a focus on safer travel around the city, NET also has a number of safety initiatives and measures in place across its network. These include well-lit stations and platforms, HD CCTV cameras on all trams, emergency help buttons at all stops and on all trams, and the ability to contact a member of the team discreetly through WhatsApp on 0115 824 6060.

The freshers’ week offer is only applicable for a limited time, but students that miss out can still benefit from big reductions on the Student Academic Year Tram Ticket, which is available for £250 until 22 October 2023, and can be purchased via the NETGO! App.

Opened in 2004 and extended in 2015, the network covers all major employment sites, both Universities and Nottingham College as well as the main attractions and places to eat, drink and shop.
