DY1 Entertainment Quarter Project Gains Momentum In Dudley

The highly anticipated Dudley Entertainment Quarter project, which aims to transform several landmark buildings in Dudley’s town centre, is gaining momentum as Hush Property Developments submits the planning application for the Dudley Museum and Arts Gallery. The £4 million project is expected to create approximately 40 new jobs in the area and attract more visitors to the town.

Led by Hush Property Developments, part of the HP Group, the ambitious project involves the renovation and transformation of Dudley’s former Museum and Art gallery, the Old Glasshouse restaurant, and a neighbouring office block. The development will create a new leisure zone around Stone Street Square, offering a variety of entertainment options for locals and tourists alike.

Co-director of Hush Property Developments, Hayley Andrews, expressed her excitement about the project, saying:

“We are thrilled to be part of this exciting development, which will bring a new lease of life to these beautiful historic buildings in Dudley. Our determination to get the project underway and open the venues for the enjoyment of the people of Dudley and those travelling in from further afield is unwavering.”

The Dudley Entertainment Quarter project aims to repurpose the former Museum and Art gallery into a hospitality and leisure venue, featuring food and drink huts, indoor cricket, laser tagging, mini-golf, escapology rooms, and other activities. Furthermore, the Old Glasshouse restaurant, vacant for the past 12 months, will be reopened, while the adjoining office block will be converted into a boutique hotel.

One of the primary goals of the project is to offer an enhanced experience to local residents and visitors alike, fostering a sense of community and pride in the town’s cultural heritage. By creating a vibrant, multi-purpose space, the development will encourage social interaction, promote local businesses, and provide a safe, accessible environment for people of all ages to enjoy.

This project stands as a testament to the successful collaboration between Hush Property Developments and Dudley MBC. Their partnership is set to not only drive economic growth but also create new job opportunities in the region. The Dudley Entertainment Quarter project highlights the benefits of public-private collaboration in driving regeneration and underlines the value of Dudley Council’s presence at MIPIM, the property conference, as a worthwhile investment.

Paul Andrews, co-director of Hush Property Developments, said:

“Seeing Dudley Council at MIPIM and their commitment to attracting investment to the area gave us the confidence that Dudley was the right place for us to continue to invest in. This was further cemented when we listened to Councillor Harley on Black Country radio and then subsequently met him to discuss this project. His passion for Dudley is infectious and his efforts, together with those of his Council Officers, have been instrumental in our decision to focus our investments on this fantastic town.”

Councillor Patrick Harley, Leader of Dudley Council, commented:

“Our presence at last year’s MIPIM is now bearing results. Can I thank Hush Properties for their dedication and commitment to regenerating Dudley Town centre. This project will create a massive boost to the local economy and overnight create what is missing with a night-time economy.”

The Dudley Entertainment Quarter project is part of a broader effort to revitalise Dudley’s local economy and draw more visitors to the area. By offering a diverse range of leisure and entertainment options, this development aims to enhance the town’s night-time economy and further establish Dudley as an attractive destination for both locals and tourists.
