Duo Appointed at Transport IT Firm as Market Grows

Nottingham headquartered transport technology firm Forward Solutions has expanded its team, welcoming two experienced customer service specialists, Chris Wood and Scott Manning.

One of the longest-established freight software development companies in the UK, Forward Solutions is based on Glaisdale Drive.
The business provides IT systems for a wide range of transport operators in the UK, Europe, Asia, and the US for multimodal players across air freight, sea freight, road freight and rail freight. Over 3,000 users are actively utilising its products every day.

With continued demand for fast and efficient transport IT is becoming the cornerstone of a successful transport operator. Innovative IT is essential with visibility and communication being as important as delivery across the supply chain. Last year, there was an 11.6 per cent growth in the freight forwarding market according to the Office for National Statistics, as 26.1 percent of all retail sales were made through the internet. With freight volumes continuing to grow undiminished transporting goods across all modes is more efficient today than ever before and technology is an essential part of this.

Combined Scott and Chris bring over 40 years’ experience to Forward Solutions. In the new roles as Customer Success Managers (CSMs) both are focusing on supporting new and existing customers. Looking at their short-term and long-term requirements and then using this to further enhance and develop the firm’s software.

Forward Solutions’ Forward Office is a flexible freight management software solution (FMS). At the core of Forward Office is Forward Core, which is supported by a suite of six additional products which can all be used independently.

Chris Wood joins having worked as an IT Manager for International Forwarding, UK and European road freight specialists, for 14 years, as a Forward Solutions customer. He comments “It’s a great opportunity to join the team and I’m looking forward to helping customers to utilise our software.

“It’s a dynamic time to be in the industry, there has been a massive growth in the supply chain and a wider shift towards using technology, and these trends aren’t slowing down.”

Scott Manning, previously worked at leading logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group. He added “Forward Solutions is in a wonderful position with a growing customer base and innovative technology.
“I’m extremely proud to have the opportunity to work with such a forward-thinking software provider with huge aspirations who is continually moving ahead within our sector.”

Richard Litchfield, Managing Director at Forward Solutions, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Chris and Scott to the team.  We’re taking huge leaps forward this year, so having two more experts join helps us to continue to deliver fantastic support to our expanding customer base.

“The last two years have fast-tracked demand for technology. The pandemic particularly hit specific sectors such as warehousing, with companies struggling to estimate demand and allocate capacity. We’re investing in our software to keep up with the increase in the market demand. We recently invested £3/4 million ensuring we’re future proofing our software.

“We’re continuing to focus on supporting our customers using the latest innovations as well as growing our team, to utilise technologies to help logistics operators thrive.”
