Darlington’s West Park Hospital Receives £1,000 From Barratt Developments North East

Darlington based West Park Hospital has received a £1,000 donation from five-star housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, to thank key workers for all of their hard work following a turbulent few years.

The Darlington based hospital, which is a mental health and learning disability hospital, is part of the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV). The £1,000 donation is part of the housebuilder’s monthly community fund initiative, which focuses on supporting organisations that improve the quality of life for those living in the areas close to its developments.

The Trust is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the Country, providing mental health and learning disability services for children and young people, adults and older people across County Durham, Tees Valley, North Yorkshire and The Vale of York. The Trust also provides forensics, and health and justice mental health services at its Roseberry Park site in Middlesbrough and at a range of Prisons across the North of England.

Approximately 550 of the Trust’s 7,000+ staff are based at West Park Hospital in Darlington. The site is the Trust’s headquarters and provides a range of community and inpatient services for adults and older people.

TEWV supports people of all ages to lead their best possible lives and Barratt Developments North East donation will be used to thank key workers for all of their hard work in serving the community and its people.

Sharon Salvin, Associate Director Nursing and Quality at Tees, Esk and Wear Valley’s NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Staff have worked incredibly hard to support patients, carers and their families in what has been a very challenging few years, so we’re extremely grateful for the donation.

“All our staff often go above and beyond to support patients as well as their families and carers of those receiving care. The funds donated will be used to remind colleagues of how grateful people are for the care they have and continue to provide.

“Thanks to Barratt Developments North East, we plan to acknowledge our staff with a cupcake day and deliver wellbeing hampers to services across the site.”

Charlotte O’Connor, Marketing Executive at Barratt Developments North East said: “The focus of our Community Fund continues to be on organisations that improve the quality of life for those living in the area close to our developments.

“Just like every hospital in the country, West Park Hospital has been under immense pressure over the past few years and we hope our donation will go some way to celebrate the key workers of the Darlington community.”

The focus for the Barratt Foundation’s Community Fund continues to be supporting the communities in which it builds.
