Cite secures Nordic growth through Department for International Trade partnership

Leicester-based creative agency, Cite, has worked with the Department for International Trade to strengthen its presence in Nordic countries as it continues to enhance its global exporting capabilities.

The agency, which already has a strong foothold in the Northern European region through multiple clients, plans to secure more work across the continent as it finds the UK’s approach to creativity, branding and digital bridges a gap between European and Global markets, including the USA.

Working initially with a regional advisor for the Department for International Trade (DIT), Cite secured additional funding through an Internationalisation Fund to invest in SaaSiest – the leading B2B SaaS event in the Nordics.

The agency has spent the last five years having a Governmental International Trade Adviser act as a consultant for its global growth plans since it started to fully export its services in 2015.

Dafydd Prichard, founder and Director at Cite, said: “Cite and integrated UK agencies are extremely attractive to Nordic companies and we have to harness that. The UK has had a reputation for creativity since the sixties and this remains today which allows us to open conversations all over the world.

“There’s a cultural balance that we find particularly works. There is a huge amount of talented and innovative companies and start-ups in the Nordics and Europe that are looking to successful Silicon Valley brands as inspiration. Here in the UK, we have the fast-growth mindset that will get them there. We are assertive and can often push out to market quicker than our European counterparts whilst also having a good understanding of the US market.”

The SaaSiest event took place in April in Malmö, Sweden, and brought C-suite executives across the Nordic tech landscape together.

The DIT’s Internationalisation Fund, only formed last year, allowed Cite to launch an overseas exhibition programme to boost its presence in the Nordics. It already works with Kahoot!, a digital game-based learning platform and Puzzel, a leading SaaS provider of cloud-based Contact Centre solutions.  It also works with Techstep, who recently appeared in Gartner’s 2022 Magic Quadrant for Managed Mobility Services, following a full corporate and product re-brand led by Cite.

Dafydd added: “We’ve always had an international aspect to Cite but by working with the DIT we have been able to significantly boost our European partnerships. Exporting is not just about physical goods and commodities. We are exporting our time and creativity and there is so much opportunity to do so.

“We have secured multiple opportunities from investing in SaaSiest already and will be analysing the long-term benefits over the remainder of 2022.”

Following initial success in Europe, Dafydd is now an official ‘Export Champion’ for the Department of International Trade and Cite is looking to other global hot spots for future opportunities and will continue its partnership with the DIT.

Cite was established in 2000 and merged with brand specialists ‘Well &  Truly’ in February 2021 to create a ‘brand first’ independent creative agency. Following the merger, it is now led by Laura Bent and Dafydd Prichard.

It offers a unique approach by connecting brands to their customers through a blend of strategic understanding, creativity, technological expertise and human insights, delivered via cross-channel digital excellence.
