Staff at local law firm Banner Jones braved the unseasonably hot weather last weekend to take part in the Sparkle Night Walk, raising around £1,000 for Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice.
The annual event saw thousands of people dress up in pink sparkle T-shirts and flashing bunny ears to walk the 10k distance, starting at Chesterfield Football Club’s Technique Stadium at 10pm on Saturday, July 9th.
The total amount raised is expected to exceed £200k which will go to Ashgate Hospice to provide palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses free of charge.
In addition to providing daytime care, The North Derbyshire registered charity also runs a 21-bed inpatient unit and relies largely upon the generosity of people such as those who participated in the Sparkle Walk and their sponsors for funding.
This is the second year that a team from Banner Jones has taken part in the event, having previously participated in 2019, and the firm is already looking forward to taking part in the challenge again on July 1st 2023.
Anne- Marie Lowe at Banner Jones, who took part in the challenge, said: “This is a fantastic annual event that raises funds for such an important cause.
“At Banner Jones we really value these opportunities to give back to the community where many of our staff live and work, and Ashgate Hospice is a cause particularly close to many of our hearts.
“We’re delighted to have contributed to such an incredible overall amount, and we are already looking forward to taking part again in 2023!”
