4 Reasons Why Your Small Business Should Support a Charity

Unleash the power of giving and ignite positive change within your business and beyond. Partnering with charitable organisations, such as ‘Educating The Children’ (ETC), offers your business more than just a chance to do good – it brings forth tangible benefits that can reshape your brand and community impact.

Here are 4 reasons why:

  • Tax Deductions and Savings: Supporting registered non-profit organisations can lead to tax deductions for small businesses. By contributing to charitable causes, businesses may reduce their taxable income, resulting in potential tax savings. This financial incentive allows companies to allocate their resources wisely, supporting both their business goals and the communities they serve.
  • Positive Publicity and Brand Enhancement: Associating with charitable causes resonates with customers and clients who increasingly seek businesses with a strong sense of social responsibility. Supporting a well-respected charity like ‘Educating The Children’ can boost a business’s public image and brand reputation. The positive exposure gained through charitable affiliations often translates into increased customer loyalty and trust.
  • Empower Your Team’s Drive: Elevate morale and engagement among your employees as they witness your business driving positive change. Championing meaningful causes boosts team satisfaction and productivity.
  • Networking and Collaborative Opportunities: Partnering with charitable organisations opens doors to networking and collaboration with other like-minded businesses and individuals. These connections can lead to mutually beneficial initiatives, expanding a business’s reach and impact. Engaging in joint ventures with other businesses in the community can also strengthen ties and foster a sense of unity.

Sonal Kadchha, the founder of ‘Educating The Children,’ emphasised the impact of small business support on the organisation’s mission: “Small businesses play a pivotal role in creating positive change in our communities. By partnering with ‘Educating The Children’ and other worthy causes, they are not only investing in a better future but also setting an example of responsible corporate citizenship.”

As small businesses continue to shape their communities, their commitment to charitable giving and corporate social responsibility can make a significant impact. By supporting initiatives like ‘Educating The Children’ and other deserving non-profits, small businesses can make a massive difference.

Notes to editors

Educating The Children was established in 2010 by its founder Sonal Kadchha, after she was invited by Virgin Atlantic on a charity trip to the Masai Mara. She noticed how overcrowded the classrooms were (100 pupils to 1 teacher), which inspired her to start ETC.   ETC is a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to empowering girls and young women in East Africa through education and training. They believe that investing in girls and women is key to promoting social and economic progress, and have worked towards this goal by building the first girls secondary school in the Masai Mara (Sekenani Girls High School) , and launching the first young women-only coding program in Uganda (Code Queen).  One of ETC’s main goals is to link its students to opportunities such as further education or career advancements. Code Queen is now on its 8th cohort of students, with around 80% of graduates being successfully linked to these opportunities.
